Busy Friday

We started our day in the lab, and then we had a really well done art lesson from our "art mom" Mrs. Oakley.  She taught us about Ansel Adams, and shared his words, "You don't take a photograph, you make it."  The kids made frames as viewfinders and framed out an image before drawing it.

Then, after math facts, the spelling quiz, an update on Caps for Kids and inside recess, we started a new science investigation.  Our science unit is "The Physics of Sound," and today the kids started working on an instrument investigation.  They got so into it, we had to break for lunch and specials, we worked on it some more after lunch and specials, and we'll finish up on Monday.  It's a performance assessment, and so it's important we take all the time we need to do well.

Ask your son or daughter what instruments are pictured, and which of the four is missing.

For each instrument, they had to complete a task and then make a sketch and answer questions on a sheet.

The focus was what can your 4S student tell you about this investigation?
